So you are considering using a squirrel trap to get rid of some problem squirrels? There is nothing wrong with trapping squirrels as long as you use a live humane squirrel trap to do the job properly. There are plenty of parks and wooded areas you can release the squirrels into once they have been caught.
Some times squirrels can get a little out of hand and become a nuisance, even going as far as entering your home looking for a place to build their nest. Squirrels will usually do this through the attic or similar opening they can manage to find.
Remember, the squirrels are more afraid of us than we should be of them. When confronted by humans, squirrels tend to take the quickest exit they can find and seek shelter up the nearest tree.
For the most part, squirrels are quite harmless, and knowing how to get rid of squirrels isn’t all that big of a job. If squirrel trapping isn’t your cup of tea, you can always call a pest control company to come out and perform some squirrel removal for you.
For those who don’t want to use a live squirrel trap to capture squirrels, you can always purchase some squirrel repellent and see if that will do the job for you. Using squirrel repellent for the most part won’t harm the squirrels; it just creates an atmosphere that they don’t want to associate with. Squirrel repellent sometimes works and sometimes the squirrels decide they can live with the repellent. If it doesn’t work, then you can always try the live squirrel trap to complete the job.
Humane squirrel traps are designed to capture your problem squirrels safely and humanly, in other words, they are captured alive. Once you have caught the squirrel, there is not a need to release the squirrel from the trap until you have selected a good location away from your home that will provide ample food and shelter for them upon their release. Once you have found a location your feel comfortable with, all you simply need to do is release the squirrel from the live squirrel trap, and away they will go.
Squirrel traps come in various shapes and sizes; we would recommend that you select a medium size live trap. The medium size traps are light enough to be carried by a single person.
That way, if you should ever have a problem with any other species of nuisance animals; skunks, raccoons, opossums, etc, you will already have a humane live trap large enough to handle these little critters as well.
Usually most people will experience problems with squirrels in the spring and the fall. In the spring, they are looking for new locations to build a nest for their soon to be born baby squirrels, and in the fall, they are seeking better shelter from the winter months.
In our family, we feed our squirrels all year round, and don’t mind sharing our trees with them. They can be quite entertaining and fun to watch all year around, we’ve had as many as 13 in our yard feeding at one time.
However, we do realize that not everybody is as fond of squirrels as we are, so if you don’t like squirrels for some reason, or they have invaded your living area, please do us and them a favor, and remove them with the aid of a live catch squirrel trap.
When using a live squirrel trap you will find there is an art to it, however, it won’t take long before you’ll soon learn how to catch a squirrel while using one.
Just a little heads up, sometimes you will find that you will catch more than just your intended target. It’s not uncommon for neighborhood dogs and cats to wonder into a live catch trap as well. That’s another great reason you should always purchase a live catch trap, imagine how bad you would feel if you accidentally killed one of your neighbors pets, or worse, one of your own.
Remember, once you have captured your nuisance critter using your squirrel trap, there are plenty of parks and wooded areas around where you can release your captured prey alive into so they can still live a good full life.
